Ancient places of transhumance that the shepherds reached in the summer season. The houses are called “caselli” in the local dialect, they are made of stone and have a slate roof. These “caselli” are located on the slopes of Mount Roccandagia, on the Apuan Alps, in Garfagnana ; Lucca, ’90s

It’s hard to explain the story of this image. What you see is: an ivy that was attached to a sheet of a shack down by the lake of Massaciuccoli (Tuscany); the fire had burned it and someone had painted the shack, 2019
With the artist Ezio De Angeli we have chosen a location to take photographs of his marble sculptures for the exhibition catalogue. We brought the sculptures back to the place where the marble was formed millions of years ago: in the water; Apuan Alps, ’90s

This is what remains of a stilt house on the lake of Massaciuccoli (Tuscany). This photo is part of my report on the environment; 2019. A work in progress!
I am attracted by the color and the shapes; a wall with a bronze tap is for me interesting subject
These are the threads that skillful hands work on the looms to produce the precious kente fabric. I was driving along the N2 in the area south of the Volta lake, between Golokwati and Akosombo. I made a detour and arrived in a small village. Wonderful fabrics, but many children working at the loom; In many of my travels I have photographed child labour and often collaborated with Ngos to witness the exploitation of children. Church dedicated to the Madonna del Ponte. The village is called Pontecosi and it is not excluded that the name comes from the presence of a bridge with three arches. The effect created by the reflection creates almost perfect geometric shapes; Pieve di Fosciana, Lucca, ’90s
I’ve always known that nature reappropriates spaces left free by man. Also around this stranded ship in the Skeleton Coast the fauna continues its life, Namibia 2013
Rock formations of an intense red color, at cape Leveque Australia, 2000
Often, at theatrical performances (dance, musical) I enjoyed taking some motion photography. I like the fluctuation of color between the bodies of dancers

I was traveling to the Sonora Desert in northern Mexico, in the state of Chihuahua. This restaurant was along the way in a small village; 1992.
Sometimes I think that man, if he does not decide to slow down this immense growth and does not pay attention to the environment deciding to walk only on the path of ecological renewal, is putting a noose around his neck.
These photographs tell the story of a village that no longer exists. I had difficulty choosing the section in which to insert it. A ghost village, as it has been called Fabbriche di Careggine, cannot occupy the Day Life section. Here on the life of a community of people a portcullis came down. The construction of an electric dam blocked the course of the Edron river, forced the inhabitants to leave their village (Tuscany, Vagli Lake, 1994).
The lake, since the construction of the dam (1947) was emptied, for maintenance, four times. These photographs were taken during the last emptying of the artificial reservoir, in 1994. These photographs are published in a book entitled “Fabbriche di Careggine, Storia di genti in terra di lucchesia ” that my wife wrote following many stories that survivors of the village had told us.
That’s when the valley flooded. It was like closing the gate on an period, relegating it among the forgotten objects, it was like dispersing our affections in the slow warbling of the waters

I can tell you that when people knew for sure that a hydroelectric power station would be built that would force everyone to leave the house, they were not happy at all. It was like stepping into a dead end.

The village of Isola Santa in the Apuan Alps, enhanced by the warm autumn colors. Also this village has been abandoned for the construction of an artificial basin (1948) and today it is a place where you can holiday; Careggine, ’90s
To travel is to go many roads, to struggle, to sweat; it is to decide a route, to stop, to start again; it is to change the road suddenly, it is to turn back. I have travelled thousands of miles to different continents. My curiosity has always prevailed; Southern Namibia from Mariental to Keetmanshoop; 2013
I traveled from Lusaka to Livingstone over 450 kilometers before moving north and then northeast to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. I was driving a peugeot 504, the only vehicle I found in Lusaka and that I could drive independently without a driver provided by the rental company. Zambia, 1994
I can’t tell you what exclamations I said when I looked up. I thought about what might happen in case of breakdowns; India, Delhi 2007
Man leaves places where he has lived and the deterioration of the artefacts inexorably continues. When I saw this greenhouse abandoned in Tenerife, the condition of light transformed the torn fabric into desperate arms, 2018
